Yesterday was St Patrick’s Day, so like a good Irish person I drank my weight in beer, listened to The Pogues, and bored my non-Irish partner with stories of the old country.

The songs…the songs, I tell ya.

And I wasn’t alone – people all over the world, Irish or not, celebrated “Irish Christmas” with green beer and epic parades.

Naturally, the Irish set the bar high with a parade in Dublin attended by over two million people.

According to CNN, the British sent Kate Middleton out with shamrocks to distribute to the Hounslow-based Irish Guards and their adorable dog, and Chicago in the US dyed their river green in honour of the saint.

Even Russia got involved, but don’t take my word for it. Here’s St Patrick’s Day 2019 in pictures…

If you’re a little fuzzy on the history, St Patrick’s Day celebrates the patron saint of Ireland, St Patrick. Traditionally, it’s also the one day during lent that alcohol and food restrictions are lifted, which is why we associate it with drinking.

While it’s a celebration of Irish culture, it’s also become a celebration of freedom and fun worldwide.

With that in mind, Irish or not, throwing back your favourite beer any day of the year keeps the spirit alive.

Sol beer is infused with Espiritu Libre – the spirit of freedom. While you might not traditionally drink an authentic Mexican beer like Sol on St. Patrick’s day, there are 364 other days of the year that deserve a little celebration.

So keep the green beer for St Paddy’s, and celebrate the spirit of freedom with the sun and Sol, whenever the mood strikes you.

Follow them on Facebook to find out where they’ll be celebrating life next.
