In 2004, Elizabeth Holmes dropped out of Stanford University to start Theranos, a company that was going to revolutionise healthcare.
For a while, she had everyone convinced that that’s exactly what she was doing.
By 2014, her company was valued at $9 billion, making Holmes – described by some as “the next Steve Jobs” – the youngest self-made female billionaire in the world.
Two years later, everything came crashing down.
All of this and more has been covered in the new documentary, The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley, from Oscar-winning director Alex Gibney.
Check out the trailer:
The doccie contains never-before-seen footage and testimony from key insiders, who shed some light on one of the biggest Silicon Valley scams ever.
With all the drama of a real-life heist film, the untitled documentary will examine how this could have happened and who is responsible, while exploring the psychology of deception.
