  • The Leaked Photo That Got Julian Assange Kicked Out Of The Embassy

Last week Julian Assange was pulled kicking and screaming out of the Ecuadorian embassy.

The first thing that everyone wanted to know was why the embassy had terminated their protection of Assange after seven years.

There are a lot of rumours doing the rounds, perhaps the most interesting of which has to do with lobster and Ecuadorian President Lenín Moreno.

    Here’s New York Post:

A photo of Ecuadorian President Lenín Moreno lounging in bed with a giant platter of lobster in front of him may have spurred Julian Assange’s eviction from the country’s London embassy.

The snapshot — highly embarrassing to the left-wing Moreno, whose country is reeling under financial strain — was among 200 private e-mails, texts and documents posted to the anonymous Web site INApapers.org early last month.

Moreno is blaming WikiLeaks for the damning set of photos that also include pics of the president and his wife on lavish European vacations.

The pics are just a small part of the reason behind Assange’s eviction. The Guardian reports that he “repeatedly violated his asylum conditions and tried to use the Ecuadorian embassy in London as a centre for spying”.

“Any attempt to destabilise is a reprehensible act for Ecuador, because we are a sovereign nation and respectful of the politics of each country,” [President Lenín Moreno] said in the interview, which was conducted by email. “It is unfortunate that, from our territory and with the permission of authorities of the previous government, facilities have been provided within the Ecuadorian embassy in London to interfere in processes of other states.

“We can not allow our house, the house that opened its doors, to become a centre for spying,” Moreno said, in an apparent reference to the leaked pictures. “This activity violates asylum conditions. Our decision is not arbitrary but is based on international law”.

He also went to say that “any form of coexistence with Assange in the embassy became a headache”.

Looks like Assange gets the prize for worst house guest ever.
