It’s Friday, the weekend is moments away, and the rain is about to come down here in the Mother City.
In other words, we will keep this very short and sweet.
A previously unheard Freddie Mercury track has now surfaced, after a 10-year search finally located a much-sought-after demo performance.
According to the BBC, ‘Time Waits For No One’ was originally part of the soundtrack for a 1986 musical:
The version released at the time featured the Queen star accompanied by dozens of layers of backing vocals.
But an early piano rehearsal of the song, featuring a different vocal take, has now been unearthed.
The song was written by Dave Clark, of 1960s pop group the Dave Clark Five – who felt the demo had a quality that was missing from the finished version.
I guess that quality is Freddie, singing his heart out, without any other vocals.
Clark found the demo recording in 2017, and after isolating Freddie’s voice, he brought in original keyboardist Mike Moran to record a new piano track.
Let’s enjoy:
Marvellous.
