France celebrated Bastille Day this weekend.
It’s the anniversary of the Storming of the Bastille on July 14, 1789, a turning point of the French Revolution, as well as the Fête de la Fédération, which celebrated the unity of the French people on July 14, 1790.
This year, the event was dedicated to European defence cooperation. One of the highlights was an appearance by French inventor and entrepreneur Franky Zapata.
If that name sounds familiar, it’s because he’s the guy who raced his “Flyboard Air” against a Lamborghini.
Over to CNN with Zapata as he flies over the Bastille Day celebrations:
“Proud of our army, modern and innovative,” Macron said in a tweet that included a video of the hoverboard theatrics:
Fier de notre armée, moderne et innovante. pic.twitter.com/DQvIfPolQf
— Emmanuel Macron (@EmmanuelMacron) July 14, 2019
French special forces have shown interest in the hoverboard as a potential assault device.
Trust the military to take something fun and make it dangerous.
I think it looks like a great way to beat traffic.
Just a thought…
