Kids around the world are told that if they want to grow up to be big and strong, they must eat their veggies.
When it comes to high-performance athletes, though, ‘protes and oats’ is often the order of the day, with meat-eating obviously being central to that.
Speak to the athletes in The Game Changers, a doccie that is currently premiering in many major cities around the world, and they sing a different tune.
These aren’t B-Grade athletes either, as Sustainable Brands reports. You may have guessed from the image above that Arnie is involved, but he’s far from the only big name attached:
From acclaimed National Geographic photographer, Academy Award-winning director (The Cove) and vocal vegan Louie Psihoyos comes The Game Changers — a feature-length documentary that investigates the rising prevalence of plant-based eating that’s powering world-renowned athletes across the globe.
Executive produced by James Cameron, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jackie Chan, the film follows Ultimate Fighting champion and combatives trainer James Wilks as he connects with experts and dozens of other athletes — including Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton (who just launched his own plant-based burger chain), heavyweight boxing champ Bryant Jennings, top-ranked tennis player Novak Djokovic, two-time Australian 400-meter sprinting champion Morgan Mitchell, and nine-time NBA All-Star Chris Paul — whose success and continued performance are debunking the decades-old myth that athletes need animal protein to perform at peak levels.
None of them started out veggie, but they all report enhanced performance since they’ve made the switch.
A pretty impressive list of names, I think you would agree.
Here’s the trailer:
Should spark some interesting chats around braais and CrossFit boxes, right?
Your vegan pals might just encourage you to watch this one, and they would have a point.
The doccie will screen for one night only – September 16 – in selected cinemas around the world, so you may have to find it online somewhere.
