Nothing takes the edge off quite like some adorable and funny pictures of animals.

The fact that the internet is mostly cats is proof of this.

Back in June, we brought you some of our favourite pictures from the entries in this year’s Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards.

As the close of the competition draws near, more great shots have been revealed, and we see no reason not to showcase more of them.

    Here’s Digital Camera World:

Having recently revealed the finalists for this year’s competition, there’s plenty of comic relief to give you a good chuckle. Forget noble stags backlit by an autumnal sunset, or owls captured mid-flight as they swoop down on their prey. From an adorably shocked otter, to a pair of brightly colored birds seemingly caught mid-argument, these images prove that nature isn’t always as dignified as it might like you to think.

The little guy taking it easy above was captured by Thomas Mangelson. He’s just one of the many adorable animals featured this year.

Sit back, relax, and treat yourself to seven more great shots.

That chap above is a lot cuter than some of the squirrels that frequent the Company’s Garden in Cape Town’s CBD.

I’m pretty sure I saw one in the midst of a drug-fuelled rage a while back, but that’s a story for another day.
