    Hear ye, hear ye.

Look, it’s taken us long enough this year, because every single time we’ve thought ‘this week is the week’, some cloud cover has ruined the fun.

Fear not, fellow revellers looking forward to heralding the beginning of the summer season, because it is upon us.

We know this for two reasons. Firstly, Seth’s trusty WeatherPro app has this forecast for the week:

I know, we’re not cracking 30 degrees and there may be some cloud over the weekend (and perhaps a little on Wednesday – don’t spoil the fun), but we’ve made it past mid-November and the wait can go on no more.

Ready the ribbons, fire off the glitter cannons – SUMMER IS NOW OPEN!

Oh, in our haste, we forgot to touch on the second reason you know summer is upon us. This one is simple – wind.

It’s funny how Capetonians seem to suffer from a collective memory deficit during winter. We pine for the days when we can plonk ourselves on the beach next to a sunburnt Pom, make a chirp about the rugby, pretend to laugh at their riposte about our weak currency, and soak up the rays.

We forget, year on year, that summer means howling winds for weeks at a time. Then again, maybe we’re just optimists and we choose to look forward to the pleasantries of a Cape summer, rather than those other pesky downsides.

Glass half full, and all that.

For those of you who are new to the game, we suggest you make plans to visit Camps Bay beach, and head to Café Caprice to watch the sun go down with a few cocktails in hand.

Not at the same time, but rather one after the other, because you’re classy like that.

Café Caprice’s resident DJs fill the space with laidback music from Thursday to Sunday, with a deep, chilled house soundtrack, and a food menu that has something for everyone.

Happy summer to all, and remember to live the holiday and jol responsibly – but you knew that already.
