The last few weeks have seen social media full of comparisons between what someone looked like 10 years ago versus now, and some humblebrags about various achievements during the decade.

Well done – you look amazing and you’re a real go-getter.

That being said, you probably haven’t done quite as well as the names that feature on the list below, showing the biggest billionaire gainers of the past decade.

In order to qualify, you needed to be worth at least $1 billion in January of 2010, which is a pretty high bar.

Forbes has documented the entire top 10, but we’ll just focus on the five biggest gainers below:

    #5: Amancio Ortega, Spain

    • Up $49.9 billion
    • 2019 net worth: $74.9 billion; 2010 net worth: $25 billion
    • Source of wealth: Inditex (parent of Zara)

    #4: Bill Gates, United States

    • Up $54.6 billion
    • 2019 net worth: $107.6 billion; 2010 net worth: $53 billion
    • Source of wealth: Microsoft

    #3: Mark Zuckerberg, United States

    • Up $68 billion
    • 2019 net worth: $72 billion; 2010 net worth: $4 billion
    • Source of wealth: Facebook

    #2: Bernard Arnault, France

    • Up $80.2 billion
    • 2019 net worth: $107.7 billion; 2010 net worth: $27.5 billion
    • Source of wealth: LVMH

Your number one earner during the past decade is a man who also survived a dick pic scandal…

    #1: Jeff Bezos, United States

    • Up $97.4 billion
    • 2019 net worth: $109.7 billion; 2010 net worth: $12.3 billion
    • Source of wealth: Amazon

    Well played, Jeff,

Now if Amazon could just start paying its fair share of taxes, and paying its employees a living wage.
