I’m not entirely sure how people navigated the planet without Siri calmly calling out directions from a smartphone.

I mean, I know maps were a thing at one point, but I haven’t seen one in a while.

Technology has made it easier than ever to make travel plans, and explore your destination once you get there, and there’s now one more app to add to your arsenal.

CNBC highly recommends Google’s travel site when planning your next trip.

Google on Wednesday updated its travel site with features that will provide more information about where you’re planning to take your next trip. It will show you, for example, the cheapest and most expensive times of year at your destination, as well as the typical weather in that place.

When you search for a destination there’s now a new tab that with three options:

    • Where to stay
    • When to visit
    • What you’ll pay

We used ‘Cape Town’ to do a bit of exploring. Here’s what the site says about the best times to visit:

    Google-Travel

Above you can see which months attract the most tourists, as well as what the weather is like throughout the year. This info, paired with the ‘what you’ll pay’ option, can help you figure out the best time of year to visit without breaking the bank.

Once you’ve arrived at your destination, the app also helps you plan activities depending on how long you’ll be visiting.

    Google-Travel

For example, if you only have one day in the city, Google will suggest activities that won’t be too time-consuming, which means that you can pack more in.

    Google-Travel

Overall, it’s a useful tool if you want to make the most out of your travel experience.

    Happy travels!
