Waking up on a Monday doesn’t usually bring a massive smile to my face, but then I saw the Blitzboks result.
Trailing Fiji in the Los Angeles Sevens final 12-24, and with around half a minute left on the clock, the men in green and gold staged an incredible comeback, scoring twice to send the final into extra time.
They then scored a sudden-death winner to complete a tournament of comebacks, having been behind against both the USA in the group stages and Ireland in the quarter-final.

Blitzbok captain Stedman Gans was named player of the final, and the tournament win takes our team into second on the overall HSBC World Sevens Series standings.
The next round of action takes place in Vancouver, Canada, starting on Saturday.
