The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are determined to lock down this ‘new life’ thing at a somewhat alarming pace.

They had to let go of the Sussex Royal branding that they worked hard to cultivate before the Queen stepped in and took the ‘Royal’ part back.

Their old Instagram account now stands as a memorial to the old way of doing things.

In more recent news, their plans moving forward are becoming clearer as the weeks go on. The Guardian reckons they’re planning a “wide-ranging non-profit empire, including websites, films, and their own awards”.

This seems apparent from trademark applications listing Meghan and Harry’s (not their real names) new branding and intentions published on the United States Patent and Trademark Office website.

    The new brand? ‘Archewell’.

Archewell, derived from the Greek word arche, meaning “sources of action”, was the inspiration for the name of their son, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor, the couple have revealed.

Also under the banner of the new trademark, you’ll find educational materials, clothing, stationery, and a health website. This is probably some new version of Meghan’s old blog, The Tig.

If you’re wondering how they’re getting so much done in a pandemic, they released a statement about that, too:

“Like you, our focus is on supporting efforts to tackle the global Covid-19 pandemic but faced with this information coming to light, we felt compelled to share the story of how this came to be.

“To do something of meaning, to do something that matters. Archewell is a name that combines an ancient word for strength and action, and another that evokes the deep resources we each must draw upon.

“We look forward to launching Archewell when the time is right.”

Good idea. We have bigger things to worry about right now.

If you’re a fan of the couple, you can also look forward to audiobooks and downloadable magazines.

They appear to be building quite the legacy.

I’m sure we’ll be hearing about it at length once the world goes back to normal.
