Pro Golfer Caught Letting One Rip During Live Broadcast [Video]

During Sunday's final round of the Travelers Championship, Englishman Ian Poulter was caught out by mics around the tee box.

When the closed captioning proclaims ‘fart’ during a live TV broadcast, it’s tough to try and waft away the accusations.

Relax, I won’t squeeze in as many fart puns as I can, unlike the recent story regarding Eastern Cape health MEC Sindiswa Gomba, and we should give props to Englishman Ian Poulter for eventually fronting up about who dealt it.

During Sunday’s final round of the Travelers Championship, his playing partner Greg Chalmers unleashed a drive. Given that there are no crowds, there was nothing to hide the distinct noise picked up by microphones dotted around the tee box.

If you’re looking at ways to throw your playing partner off his game, letting rip as he tees off on the first hole is certainly one approach.

There was even some good-natured banter following the round, with Poulter stressing the dangers of the live mic:

Eventually, Poulter came clean:

He later said it was “one way to protect social distancing”.

Just doing his bit to help curb the spread, really.
