    What is up with Volkswagen?

They can’t seem to get it together in terms of their cars or advertising.

For examples of how not to conduct an ad campaign, head here and here.

The second one is disturbingly racist.

As for the cars, since the automaker narrowly recovered from cheating on its emissions tests with nearly half a million TDI diesel cars back in 2015, it’s been on a mission to recover a formerly passable reputation.

Well, that isn’t going to happen anytime soon, because the company is once again in the news for cheating on an emissions test, only this time it’s their luxury sports vehicles unit, Porsche AG.

Germany’s motor vehicle authority KBA, says REUTERS, is currently investigating Porsche and the petrol engines that they produced for the market before 2017.

Last year, German prosecutors fined Porsche €535 million for errors that allowed the company to cheat diesel emissions tests, but manipulation has not yet been proven for petrol engines – for now.

A spokesman for Porsche said on Sunday that the issues with the engine were developed years ago and that there is no indication that current models are affected.

Over to Car And Driver for more of that statement:

“These topics mainly relate to specific hardware and software used in certification testing. In certain cases such components may also have differed from parts used in series vehicles.”

Porsche says that they are conducting an internal investigation to ensure that everything in the current production line is above board.

They will also be searching their systems for any technology that could have been used back in the day to cheat the tests.

That’s great, but overall,  you and your parent company really need to get your act together.

    Will they ever learn?
