Capetonians have been known to head to Hermanus once their working days come to an end.

Some people like to dream practically about where they’ll hang up their boots, but where’s the fun in that?

For R35 million, you can take ownership of Ocean’s Eleven, a guesthouse with cracking ocean views, but that just sounds like more work.

Besides, how long until we regularly see guests streaming into South Africa once more?

Cobble together an extra R4 million or so, and you could snap up this five-bedroom whopper in Kwaaiwater, Hermanus, which Property24 has dubbed a “showstopper”.

As somebody who regularly peruses properties far beyond my means, I must agree. Here’s more from the listing:

When it comes to opulent living, a few things defines luxury. But waking up to the views of the endless blue waters daily – is the pinnacle of opulence.

Natural sunlight floods through the extensive living areas, which opens up on both sides (mountain and sea view), allowing the gentle ocean breeze to cool down the interiors.

Extra large en suite bedrooms, with four lounges. Each for every special time of day or every special occasion.

The property comes with two solid wooden built in bars and a private wine cellar, also with solid wood imported from the Amazon basin.

I tend to err on the sustainable side, so I’m not sure that’s a huge selling point for me, but it’s something that may well impress your dinner guests over a few glasses of wine.

Please excuse me while I pop down to the Amazonian-wooded cellar to grab another bottle of the good stuff.

If that doesn’t work, you can mention the gym and steam room, as well as the jacuzzi with killer views.

Stunning, as long as everybody who hops in the jacuzzi can provide a negative COVID-19 test no less than 72 hours old.

Like border control, but for a bunch of people enjoying a splash together.

The listing finishes by saying it’s perfect for those of you who “want to reconnect with your inner nature lover, but are unwilling to compromise in terms of luxury and style”.

    Sure, it’s a cracker.
