Victor Glover is pretty stoked with life right about now.

For one, he’s making history as the first black astronaut to make a long stay at the International Space Station, and will spend a good six months aboard as part of NASA and SpaceX’s first fully operational crewed mission to the ISS.

If this was a horror movie, he would almost certainly be the first person to die.

But it’s not, and Glover has spent the last few days taking in the incredible view the ISS affords its lodgers.

Here’s the first video he shared – a view of Earth taken through a window on the Dragon Resilience:

My first video from space! Looking at the Earth through the window of Dragon Resilience. The scale of detail and sensory inputs made this a breathtaking perspective! pic.twitter.com/n7b5x0XLIp

When he says the video “just doesn’t do it justice”, I believe him.

According to KSBY, the 44-year-old Southern California native graduated from California Polytechnic State University in 1999 with an engineering degree.

A day earlier, Glover shared this snap:

Welcome to my new home! My first few days on @Space_Station were a blur. We hit the ground running with maintenance, science, and spacewalk prep. It’s taking me some time to get my bearings, but I finally had a chance to snap some pictures of my new home for the next 6 months. pic.twitter.com/b4KllmNtXY

Spending six months aboard the ISS will be taxing, but it’s nothing compared to what astronauts on the first mission to Mars will go through.
