On Sunday, December 6, the skies of the Russian city of Rostov-on-Don, near the border with Ukraine, were ablaze with an impromptu and rather spectacular pyrotechnics display.
While it looked celebratory, the reality was a blaze that covered 4 000 square metres of land and property, including a fireworks factory.
It is said to have been started by a faulty electrical heater, and then spread to the factory where it set off the warehouse which was fully stocked ahead of the coming new year celebrations.
It took 400 firefighters to get it under control.
Per The Telegraph, no one was hurt, but it does provide an answer to what would happen if a fireworks store or factory caught fire.
I’ve always wanted to know.
Some spectacular footage of the event was captured by people in the area.
