Nicolas Cage has, at least for the past while, enjoyed doing movies and series that wouldn’t really be characterised as mainstream.

He did buck the trend with History of Swear Words, but who’s going to turn down a Netflix-sized payday where you get to use cusswords as often as you like?

    You know you wouldn’t.

Cage is back to the slightly zany with his latest movie, Willy’s Wonderland, which involves the massacring of giant animatronic animals.

    More from Empire:

In Willy’s Wonderland, Cage is an unnamed janitor, a man with a penchant for energy drinks whose car gets a flat tire in an off-the-beaten-track town. Unable to pay the repair shop to fix his Jeep, he agrees to work off his debt by spending the night cleaning Willy’s Wonderland, an abandoned theme park full of animatronic characters that were once a beacon of fun for children to play with.

Yet in reality, He’s been lured into a deadly trap, or rather, a living nightmare, as Wonderland’s animatronic characters come to life to destroy him.

It has a bit of a 1980s feel to it, which is what director Kevin Lewis was going for, and a healthy side of gore.

Lewis also said Cage really enjoyed filming. Perhaps he found it a touch therapeutic.

More like Nicolas Rage, right? Right? Anyone?

Theatres in the US will begin screening the movie from February 12.
