Video footage captured a high-speed car chase along Boyes Drive, between Muizenberg and Fish Hoek, which took place on Monday, February 22.
Props to the SAPS officers who gave chase and successfully apprehended the hijackers, and also to whoever provided the rather colourful commentary that accompanies one of the videos.
We shouldn’t really enjoy watching footage like this, because hijackings are all too frequent, but there is satisfaction in knowing it ended in an arrest.
As Cape Town Etc points out, the footage is a touch shaky, but you can still follow the action.
The first video, which is longer, does not come with sound:

The second video contains the same footage, but is clipped slightly shorter. This time we know it’s shot by someone who is clearly relishing the thrill of the chase, and the fact that the hijackers have been apprehended.
A warning that it contains some choice language:

It is reported that the two hijackers remain in police custody, and are being processed by the courts.
Would it be too much to ask that the man filming the video above testifies? I’d tune in for that.
