  • Three Great Feelgood Movies To Watch On Netflix This Weekend [Trailer]

Hang in there, the weekend is almost upon us.

Take a walk down memory lane with Vernon Koekemoer if you’re keen to waste a few minutes.

Once the weekend rolls around there will be ample time to kick back, relax, and watch a film or two, and preferably something feelgood to take the edge off the week.

To help you along your way, Mashable curated 15 uplifting films streaming on Netflix at the moment.

Some of them were Christmas movies so I struck those from the list.

I’ve only recently managed to replace the constant loop of Christmas carols embedded in my brain by shopping malls with something more pleasant. I’m not going back.

The others were fine, and you can check them out here, but if you’re going to maximise your time, here are the three you should be taking note of:

    Hunt for the Wilderpeople

If you haven’t seen this yet, fix your life.

This 2016 adventure follows moody teenager Ricky Baker (Julian Dennison) and his curmudgeonly foster father Hec (Sam Neill).

After he loses his foster mother he runs off into the wilderness with Hec on his heels. When neither of them feels like returning to civilisation, they become ‘wilderpeople’.

    The Intouchables

I’ve been told to let you know that this film is not to be confused with the, as Mashable calls it, “markedly inferior English-language remake” The Upside.

The Intouchables has been singled out for its sensitive onscreen representation of people with disabilities and phenomenal leads François Cluzet and Omar Sy.

It’s billed as a “laugh-out-loud comedy” that “asks audiences to reimagine how they see others, and why”.

Admittedly I haven’t seen it yet, but it has jumped to the top of my list.

Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga

I’m not a fan of Will Ferrell and usually avoid his films like the plague, but this one was fun.

With over-the-top performances by Ferrell and Rachel McAdams, but not so over the top that you want to throw something at the TV, it’s a wild and silly ride set against the backdrop of the world’s biggest song contest.

It also has homicidal elves, who played a small part in the film, but a significant part in my enjoyment of it.

It doesn’t get more uplifting than that.
