If you’re a Tucker Carlson fan, I’d suggest you stop reading here and do something more constructive with your time.

I dunno, maybe rewatch one of those segments from last year where he repeatedly downplayed the dangers posed by COVID-19, just for gees.

He wasn’t alone on that front, with a host of Fox News anchors carving a special place in history with their COVID-19 coverage.

Last week, his usual headline-grabbing antics centred around women in the US military, and whatever else he could heap scorn upon to rile up the Boomers who gobble up Fox News 24/7.

Outrage is what fuels his popularity, and so he must feed the beast.

John Oliver has never been a fan, and in previous shows has touched on how Tucker’s talking points bear a striking similarity to those of, say, white supremacy groups.

On Sunday, Oliver devoted his main segment to explaining where Tucker came from, what his rhetorical tactics are, and what he represents.

Remember this, before you start – Fox News’ lawyers argued last year that you can’t expect to literally believe the words that come out of Carlson’s mouth, adding he is “not ‘stating actual facts’ about the topics he discusses and is instead engaging in ‘exaggeration’ and ‘non-literal commentary.’ ”

    Ah yes, I see.
