Capetonians and supercars seem to have a relationship fraught with danger.
In December last year, we saw an embarrassing (and dangerous) accident involving a McLaren 720S and a Lamborghini Huracan Performante on Helen Suzman Boulevard.
Then in April, a Lamborghini Huracán Spyder slammed into some trees near Llandudno, which was rumoured to have been a rental car.
After events yesterday on the N1, near the Plattekloof turn-off in the direction of the city, the Cape supercar crash count between McLaren and Lamborghini is tied at two apiece.
The damage to the McLaren MP4-12C doesn’t look that bad via the image above, supplied to News24, but from different angles the full scale of the damage can be seen:
Yeah. Pretty bad driving out there today cause of the weather. This one was near Plattekloof. Expensive pic.twitter.com/GK4xV6HaNC

Secondhand, the McLaren MP4-12C can still fetch around R2 million, with prices for a new model touching R4 million.
According to City of Cape Town Traffic Services spokesperson Kevin Jacobs, the accident occurred around 9:45AM, and no serious injuries have been reported.
Fellow motorists seemed to enjoy cruising past the wreckage:

Look, at least the number plate didn’t read ‘2FAST4U’.
Never change, Cape Town.
