Stomach in, chest out.
Back in 2010, the then SAPS National Commissioner Bheki Cele gave a speech where he talked about police officers taking pride in their bodies and appearance.
Cele, now our Minister of Police who gets his kicks from wearing shite hats and arresting people on beaches, said that South Africans are used to seeing officers “with their stomachs out and their chests in, when it should be stomach in, chest out”.
His words sparked countless memes and dance parodies, but it would be a stretch to say they also inspired a fitness revolution within our various law enforcement agencies.
Case in point, a video now doing the rounds showing a soldier who doesn’t appear to be in peak fighting form.
Lockdown hasn’t been kind to many of us, and judging the fitness of the SANDF troops on one video is harsh, but it hasn’t stopped South Africans from having a solid chuckle:

In the end, it appears the soldier, and those offering assistance, gave up.
Add this one to the long list of embarrassing SANDF gaffes.
Soldiers have been deployed across parts of the country to ensure there isn’t a resurgence in the violence and looting that rocked the country earlier this month.
They have also been searching buildings and homes in order to confiscate looted goods.
