It turns out that some of life’s random changes can work in your favour.

Considering all the nonsense that has happened of late, it can seem hard to believe, but one lucky lady has proven that something good could be just around the corner.

Residing in the North West, a mother had lost her job due to the COVID-19 pandemic and had been dealing with the challenges through a “whirlwind of consultations”, which included trauma counselling and financial advice, per News24.

But everything changed when she spent R15 via a banking app on a PowerBall lottery ticket, used her usual lucky numbers (5, 12, 15, 28, 29, and PowerBall number 14), and landed herself last week’s R158 million jackpot.

She thought she was dreaming when she found out that she had hit the jackpot and is still trying to come to terms with the big win.

Having missed the live draw, she checked the app later:

“When I saw the winning PowerBall numbers, I knew that I had won the PowerBall jackpot of R158 million, but I kept on checking the numbers throughout the day to ensure that I was not mistaken or that I would wake up from a dream”, she said.

Shock aside, she does have plans for the sizeable fortune.

First, a vacation is on the cards:

“I would love to travel to Durban, as I have never been there before and I have always wanted to go there for a family vacation at the seaside.

Then her dream will be fulfilled:

“A portion of the winnings will go towards building and furnishing our dream home, with the help of an interior designer and the best architect to ensure that everything I have always dreamt of as a little girl becomes exactly what I envisioned,” she said.

    As for the rest?

The rest of the winnings will be put in an education trust for the children’s education, and a portion will be donated to charity.

Ithuba CEO Charmaine Mabuza congratulated the winner and mentioned that this win was the biggest online jackpot win since Ithuba took over as the operator in 2015.
