What you are about to see is certainly the most bizarre police chase video I have ever seen.
The oddness is two-fold.
Firstly, you get to see an alleged motorbike thief lead the police on a wild goose chase through fields and over train tracks while riding a farm tractor.
Secondly, the Queensland Police seem to have edited some really good quality CCTV footage of the whole incident to create a rather dramatic showdown.
Only in Australia?
The drama begins with a person using a tractor to break the window of a motorbike shop in the wee hours of Friday morning in Ipswich, west of Brisbane.
After attaching two motorbikes to a boom on the front of the tractor, the thief made off, but the police were close behind.
The tractor was chased along various roads, where the boom and bikes were dropped and lost, through gates and fences, into fields and over the train tracks.
Finally, the chase came to a standstill at a creek, where the robber took his clothes off to make a swim for it.
The Citizen reports that the 41-year-old man has been charged with several offences, including the dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and evading police.
It’s the “tractor” in Australian vernacular for me.
Thankfully, nobody was injured as the drama unfolded.
