A 10-year-old boy, known for his large, dramatic, and colourful figurative paintings, has taken the Miami art world by storm.

Andres Valencia started teaching himself how to paint at the age of four and has now sold his artworks to quite a few Hollywood big shots, such as Sofia Vergara and The Wolf of Wall Street‘s Jordan Belfort, to name a few.

The third-grader, deeply influenced by George Condo, Picasso, and Cubism, walked the talk after seeing a Jean-Michel Basquiat film.

We’ve all looked at some of these famous artworks and thought “I can do that” but not all of us then go and do it.

Valencia did with the help of his attorney father Guadalupe Valencia, who helped him stock up on large-scale canvases during the COVID-19 pandemic, and a ladder to help him reach all the corners of the canvas.

“You can express your feelings and stuff on canvas,” says Valencia of his motive for creating art.

    Page Six has more:

And the result is that Andres’ work is now featured at Chase Contemporary’s booth at Art Miami, which runs through Sunday.

An Art Miami insider said, “Sofia Vergara, Jordan Belfort [and] Ryan Garcia bought 10 paintings from Andres Valencia at Art Miami on preview day.”

    Well played, young man:

Yep, that was Channing Tatum who showed up to check out the young artist’s work:

Instagrammer Nick Korniloff is Art Miami’s director and confirmed that Valencia’s collection already has an offer from a New York-based collector.

Korniloff reckons Valencia is among the more “special” young artists that he works with.

The art director has set it up so that some of the proceeds made from any art sales will go towards his Perry J. Cohen Foundation.

The foundation is named after his son, Perry, who was tragically lost at sea at age 14 in 2015.
