By now we know, although TikTok is widely known for its many dance trends, that there is really a whole smorgasbord of eccentric content on the platform.

This year, we touched on a few rising TikTok stars, from foodie Emily Mariko, as cool as a cucumber, to Khabane “Khaby” Lame with his famous facial expressions mocking overly complicated life hack videos.

There’s even a sciency account dedicated to cadavers and Gordon Ramsay and his filthy mouth.

We certainly have not been starved of some fascinating, bite-sized entertainment this year.

TikTok has now released the year’s top videos, defined as those that “make up some of this year’s biggest moments”.

These videos managed to bamboozle the algorithms enough to rise to the top of our For You Pages, and in doing so became TikTok sensations.

Yahoo! has the full top 10 but we’ll just cover the five biggest hits:

1. @totouchanemu –  this guy dancing with a drone landed him more than 314 million views:

2. @chipmunksoftiktok – Squishy the Chipmunk hiding nuts in his mouth got more than 270 million views:

3.@_catben_ – these restocking and cleaning videos from Catherine Benson are ASMR gold, with this particular one receiving in excess of  205 million views:

4.@my_aussie_gal – Secret the Australian shepherd went viral for using her mouth to paint a picture of a yellow flower and got 184 million views:

5. @zachking – Zach King has a knack for disappearing into his art, and this video of him falling into a chalk drawing crack drew more than 174 million views:
