Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be in the mouth of a shark?

Stories in the media about shark “attacks” – now known as “encounters” because they aren’t actually out to get you – have created a great deal of fear around these creatures, but really they’re quite marvellous.

That’s why a self-proclaimed pirate, cinematographer, and conservationist’s first-hand footage of a shark chomping down on a camera is fascinating.

Zimy Da Kid managed to capture 27 seconds of the inside of a shark’s mouth, as the camera bypasses the razor-sharp teeth, the gills on the inner walls, and the closed throat.

PetaPixel described the inner area beyond the line of “scary-looking teeth” as “very smooth and clean”.

The shark, having sufficiently gnawed on the camera, promptly spat it out and went on with its day.

Zimy Da Kid aims to use his documentary work as a way to inspire people into wanting to love and protect our planet, along with all the creatures on it, per a previous Facebook post:

He gets some pretty epic footage on the daily, demystifying these giant beasts and allowing them to exist in calmness and harmony with the ocean:
