John Oliver’s Last Week Tonight was supposed to be on a break this past Sunday.

But the talk show host just couldn’t help himself, needing to let the internet know about his issues with a 1997 movie about a dog that plays basketball.

Also about the sequel of that film where the dog’s babies become the Avengers, but dogs.

In a web exclusive clip, Oliver gets hilariously irate with Air Bud, assuring us that he won’t ruin it for any prospective viewers.

Except, as he went on, “if I wanted to do that I’d say either that the dog who played him is definitely dead by now, or that it must’ve been nice to make content before 9/11.”
