SA Woman Bags R23 Million (£1 Million) In UK Radio Competition

Considering the exchange rate, she can now afford solar panels and ADT if she still lived in SA.

Margaret Coetzer might have just had the best 40th birthday anyone could ever ask for.

The South African-born woman was the lucky winner of Heart Radio’s Make Me A Millionaire competition on Friday, and in the process won herself R 23 Million.

Coetzer turned down an earlier chance to win £2 000 (R46 000), instead opting to throw her hat into the ring for the ultimate prize. It evidently paid off handsomely.

Coetzer, who works in Bracknell in Berkshire as the head of quality for a software company, joined 10 other finalists in choosing a ‘lucky box’, with hers being the luckiest of them all.

When asked what she would do with all the money, Coetzer said that she and her husband, AJ, want to buy a house, and a horse for their nine-year-old daughter, Alex, visit her family in South Africa, and donate to animal charities.

Considering the exchange rate, she would be able to do all that in SA and still have some money left for solar panels and ADT.

Coetzer and her hubby joined radio hosts Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden on air as she phoned her mum to share the news. Watch the heartwarming moment below:
