Residents of a small holiday resort in Spain are becoming increasingly fed up with the drunken antics of tourists, and according to the locals, Brits are the worst.

Arenal in Majorca attracts thousands of visitors every year, but it is the ‘carnage’ caused by young British tourists that have been pushing the town to the limit.

Residents of this picturesque little town complain about the Brits going on 48-hour benders, fighting and passing out in the street, and even using locals’ gardens as toilets.

These young people usually descend on the resort during the peak season between March and September, turning it into a Weekend at Barnie’s vibe.

David Servera, president of the Residents’ Association of Llucmajor, says that the English are terrible guests, unlike the Germans who are “very disciplined”. Not quite sure what a disciplined holidaymaker is, but in this case it’s not the Pommies.

David said some tourists even go to the holiday town for 24 to 48 hours at a time and don’t bother booking hotels, instead choosing to stay out drinking and partying – and said even the more stereotypically well-behaved visitors from other European countries are starting to copy rowdy Brits.

Miguel Pascual, who lives in the town, is especially annoyed as the tourists use his garden as a toilette. Despite confronting the poopers, they don’t seem to care about local hygiene.

“I yelled at someone to get out of the garden and when he turned round, I saw that his pants were full of faeces.”

Gross. He added visitors who don’t make it to the loo – or to an unfortunate resident’s garden – also empty their bladders and bowels in the street.

The drunken tourists are ruining the town’s tranquil atmosphere, with the streets filling up with rubbish despite being cleaned regularly.

“We know it’s a tourist area and understand there’s going to be noise but there are things you don’t expect.”

It has gotten so bad that some locals are moving away from the town, searching for some reprieve from the madness, and Brits.

Spain is a popular destination for British holidaymakers. Its warm weather and picturesque seaside resorts resemble everything England is not, and its close proximity makes it a budget-friendly destination for the TikTok generation.

Spain is however not alone in its dislike for travellers from the UK, and recently there has been widespread murmurings of European resorts closing their doors for them. Some have claimed it is class-based and will result in only the rich being able to afford a getaway to Majorca.

Whatever the reason, it’s never pleasant to see someone peeing on your rose bushes. And according to a recent poll, even the Brits think they are the worst tourists.

Britain is one of only two countries where people have a more negative than positive view of their own tourists (the other being Germany). 61% of us also expect that other nations hate our tourists – the highest out of 26 countries https://t.co/rO0gwx72Xl pic.twitter.com/I5i5ylyvMS

Our slice of the British tourist pie seems better behaved, besides the odd sandals and socks incidents. Maybe we’re just lucky.
