While flesh and bone writers like myself cower in a corner with our typewriters, fearing the day AI will accurately be able to describe what prawns taste like, or how an orgasm feels, In On Africa (IOA), with assistance from TrendER/InfoQuest, have been looking into what South Africans are actually using the wise-ass app for.
The think tank has published a report based on insights from over 3,000 working people in South Africa to understand how personal and professional lives have been affected since the launch of ChatGPT.
According to their findings, 59% of South Africans know about ChatGPT, but only 38% are using the tool, with the highest usage in the ICT/Telecom industries.
Most people in the workplace seem to be using the tool to improve their writing quality (53%), helping with research (43%), and content creation (42%).
If ChatGPT is indeed our digital Yoda, then RSAWeb is ‘the force’, so let it be strong with you.
