While Apple’s ‘Scary Fast’ October event was filmed on an iPhone 15 Pro Max with the help of professional studio equipment costing tens of thousands of dollars, Olivia Rodrigo’s music video was shot using a much simpler set-up, proving that the device still has stunning capabilities.
Behind-the-scenes footage of Apple’s Monday evening Scary Fast event reveals how it was filmed using an iPhone 15 Pro Max, albeit with the aid of a full suite of professional recording equipment and other fancy gizmos, from drones, gimbals, dollies, industrial set lighting, and other recording accessories.
Apple’s implication with these so-called “shot on iPhone” promotions is that anyone can do it if only they buy the newest iPhone but one might be thinking it actually seems to take a hell of a lot to make iPhone footage look this good.
Apple might have all the right stuff, but pop star Olivia Rodrigo is showing us that it can be done with a far simpler recording kit. She appears to have used a simple tripod set-up and an iPhone 15 Pro to film her own “shot on iPhone” music video for ‘Get him Back!’:
Apple points out how Olivia’s clip takes advantage of the new camera features such as Pro Res 4K Log and support for external USB-C drives when recording videos. On the iPhone 15 Pro Max, users can also combine these features with video shooting using the 5x optical zoom periscope lens, notes 9to5Mac.
The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are available at your nearest Digicape, South Africa’s largest independent Apple retailer, where they retail for R27,699 and R33,499 respectively.
Don’t fret about affordability, though, because Digicape offers a way to make it easier. Opt for their trade-in option to make paying a lot more possible. The idea is to essentially swap your old devices and pay the difference for the newer ones.

For a limited period, Digicape has even added an extra R1,200 to the trade-in values of selected MacBooks, making it even more affordable to upgrade. Trade-in an old Mac – or up to five other Apple, Android, or Windows devices – against a new Apple device, and you can even finance the difference.
