Everyone was aghast when Trevor Noah was offered R33 million for an advert to promote South Africa as a tourist destination, and now the advert is finally here.
At the time, Noah said that he was “approached by corporates for a fee less than R33 million”. Whatever he was paid, it looks to have been kind of worth it.
It seems Trevor’s advert has hit the right notes, being both a bit cheeky and on point, in a pride-inducing way. Critics seem to love it, and the general populace has also weighed in positively.
“We can’t afford to not have tourists in this country, that’s terrible for us,” said Noah, adding “Guys, I can’t work for government because I want to talk about government.”
The funnyman is right. This country and its people are amazing, we just need reminding.
