Fury Road director, George Miller, is on a roll after the massive success of the Charlize Theron blockbuster, and in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga he is taking us back to the eponymous antihero’s past.
Furiosa tells the story of a much younger version of Furiosa (Anya Taylor-Joy) who is forced to fight for her life after being kidnapped from the Green Place of Many Mothers by the warlord Dementus (Chris Hemsworth).
As we’ve come to know and love the Mad Max universe, it’s set in a hellish future where traditional societies have collapsed and precious natural resources like water are scarce.
The trailer is light on details about Furiosa’s past, but by the time she enters Dementus’ world, she’s already brimming with defiance, so expect over-the-top action sequences and madcap car battles in the desert.
As the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus. Sweeping through the Wasteland, they come across the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe. While the two Tyrants war for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she puts together the means to find her way home.
Unfortunately, the movie will only be released in May 2024, but until then, feast your eyes on the first of many beautiful trailers:
