Hannon shared on Instagram "The fact that Julius and I broke up two years ago has absolutely nothing to do with the amount of  loss and anxiety that I feel for him being a missing person."

TV personality and entrepreneur Hannon Bothma (left) and his estranged husband, Julius Swart (right), have had a difficult start to the year.

59-year-old Swart was missing for two months, leaving his family and friends reeling with anxiety about where he was and what could possibly have happened to him in the massive metropolis of Johannesburg.

He and Bothma married in 2018 and then announced their separation in February 2022. At this point Swart withdrew from public life, and from his loved ones, prompting his Glam Guru ex to report a missing person case on 5 February at Bramley Police Station. Apparently, Bothma had made several failed attempts to get hold of him until he became really worried and went to the police.

A post shared on the Facebook page The Pink Ladies confirmed that Swart has been missing since January 23, having disappeared without a trace in Bramley, Johannesburg.

According to the report, Swart read a WhatsApp message from Bothma on January 23, but since then, his phone has been off, and no one has been able to locate him, per Jacaranda FM:

“I miss him terribly. No one knows where he is. I’m grasping at straws. I’ve tried contacting every person on my phone (and asked) if Julius has tried to contact them, but he hasn’t.”

Jacqui Thomas from The Pink Ladies also confirmed that Swart was missing and that his mental state was considered very “fragile.”

The minor-celebrity couple ended their 30-year relationship two years ago, citing in a statement that the divorce will be to the advantage of Julius Swart Promotions trading as HANNON.

They met each other in the 90s when Hannon was a hairdresser at the Mount Nelson Hotel in Cape Town and Julius, who worked in marketing, got his haircuts there. They soon started working closely together and in 1997, and then Hannon launched his first hair and makeup studio in Cape Town, where they officially joined forces. They said getting married made financial sense at the time of their nuptials.

Netwerk24 reported on Wednesday afternoon that Swart has been found, per The Citizen.

Detective sergeant Phillip Munyai of the Bramley Police Station confirmed to the Afrikaans publication that Swart was safe. He was found in the Sandton area in Johannesburg on Friday after his mobile phone records and bank statements led to his whereabouts.

On 19 March, a friend of Swart (who is said to have not known he was reported as missing) saw him at a Hyde Park restaurant. The friend, who chose to stay anonymous, told Netwerk24 that Swart did not react when he greeted him, claiming that it is possible he didn’t see or hear him.

Another friend, who said she’d lived with Swart for several months last year, added that she believed he was not using his prescription medication for his mental health condition. According to her, Swart had been struggling with his mental health for a while and was very depressed about his and Bothma’s ongoing divorce.
