United States President Barack Obama, while on his three nation tour starting in Senegal, had only kind words for former South African President Nelson Mandela. While at a news conference in Dakar with Senegalese President Macky Sall on Thursday, Obama called the anti-apartheid activist his “personal hero”. Obama:
He’s a personal hero, but I don’t think I’m unique in that regard. I think he’s a hero for the world. And if and when he passes from this place, one thing I think we’ll all know is that his legacy is one that will linger on throughout the ages.
We trust you’ve read the INCREDIBLE story (and rare photograph) from when Obama met Mandela for the first and only time. Read it here.
