Specifications are scant at this stage but you can expect a full range of VW engines, from the little 1.4 litre petrols all the way to 2.0 litre nicked from the Golf 6.
The VW will also ride on the chassis and other oily bits from the Golf 6, so we can assume it will be roughly the same size. If you think that makes the Bug a bit common, you might be interested to know that the Audi TT and about 14 other cars, from Seats to Skodas to the Audi A3 all run on that chassis, so it’s no big deal.
Apparently there’s a UK release date of early 2012, so we think it should hit SA shores in mid-2012.
