Sometimes it seems like social media is really just another way for parents to be embarrassing. It’s why most of us have our folks on limited profile access on Facebook.
While the status updates featuring your baby pictures or the inconvenient comments on your status might be a bit much, you can at least thank the social media gods that your mom hasn’t done what @MariaReynoldsC3 did to her son.
Mom-who-really-wants-you-to-find-a-nice-girl, Maria, tweeted a #HimToo comment on Twitter featuring a picture of her son, Pieter Hanson. Here’s SkyNews:
The since-deleted tweet by @MariaReynoldsC3 read: “This is MY son. He graduated #1 in boot camp. He is a gentleman who respects women.
“He won’t go on solo dates due to the current climate of false sexual accusations by radical feminists with an axe to grind.”
The post, which was accompanied by a picture of her son in a Navy uniform, quickly went viral.
Pieter Hanson was in the middle of an exam when he found out from his friends that his mom had accidentally turned him into a Twitter meme. Not only that, but he was now the poster child for #HimToo, which is believed to be the antithesis of #MeToo.
#HimToo is basically a bunch of men (and the occasional #EmbarassingMomToo) so unaware of how to behave appropriately around women that they’re scared that they’ll be accused of sexual assault.
Hanson immediately responded with his own tweet:
Twitter’s meme game really is on point. The responses to the #HimToo post are pure quality.
There’s this little guy who’s about to get snipped:
Some clever commentary on climate change:
A play on words:
And finally, some classic cinema:

And to all of you social-media-savvy parents out there, don’t be a Maria. Leave your kids out of your Twitter updates.
