British pop icon, Annie Lennox, was spotted this morning in popular Cape Town artisan coffee shop, Origin. Lennox recently appeared in the South African news cycle after reports emerged that former UCT Medical Director, Dr Mitch Besser (56) had left his wife for Lennox. Click through for a pic of the couple.
Witnessing U2 in concert was a big deal for a lot of people, but spotting Ryan Reynolds (in town shooting a film with Denzel Washington) at the concert may well have increased the blood pressure of a few young ladies! We managed to get hold of a few pics of Ryan Reynolds at Friday’s concert. […]
Adriaan Bergh has done the unthinkable, the unbelievable, the improbable, even. Adriaan Bergh has been crowned Mr South Africa, 2011. Can. You. Believe. It. Click through for the road to glory.
Well hey, this could be fun. Since Jon Favreau – director of Iron Man and its sequel – decided not to sign on for the series’ third installment, Marvel’s been on the hunt for a suitable replacement, and it looks like Shane Black, writer of Lethal Weapon and director of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, is the guy.
One of the classic moments during last night’s U2 concert at Cape Town stadium was when Bono and Yvonne Chaka Chaka covered the classic Ben E. King hit, “Stand by me.” The whole also sang along. We managed to catch the moment on video camera. Follow the link to check it out!
Everybody is talking about the start of U2’s concert, which had Bono waxing lyrical about Cape Town and South Africa. But then he went for a pretty cool vibe and compared each band member to a wild animal. “What manner of exotic creature do we have here” was hilarious (for The Edge)! Then Bono called […]
Had a simply marvelous time last night at the U2 concert in Cape Town. Here is a killer panoramic pic taken using my iPhone 4 (thanks Digicape) and the Autostitch app. Sadly I wasn’t quick enough to get pics of the chick cat-fight that occured in fromt of me, but those of you who caught […]
I’m not entirely sure what to think of lady Gaga’s latest outfit that she wore on Thursday’s edition of “Good Morning America”. She said that the outfit was based on a condom. Where on God’s green earth does this woman come up with these ideas?

Well, well, well, children! With gates opening at 16h30, and the main act kicking off at 21h30, most of you are probably wondering just how the heck you’re going to get to the Cape Town U2 gig this evening. As ever, 2oceansvibe is here to provide a list of road closures and associated logistics as a public service to you, our beloved.
In a touching display of celebrity-on-politician action, Bono delivered a bright red iPod to his new best friend, Jacob Zuma, at the presidential home in Genadendaal. Zuma looked visibly nervous at the specter that is Bono, so much so that he could barely manage to complete a sentence, and as one wasn’t written down for him, who could blame him.
Poor , Ezperanza Spalding- I don’t know who she is either, but apparently she’s won “Best New Artist” at Sunday’s Grammys, despite Justin Bieber being the overwhelming favourite. This has sparked outrage amongst Bieber’s fans or “Beliebers” as they are known, and they have called for her head.
Let’s get this straight; 3D is just another means of resurrecting a spluttering film industry by charging you double the price for films with half the plot. Hollywood’s done it before, and they’ll keep doing it. But, just in case you needed another reason to hate 3D, turns out that Nazis were watching 3D propaganda films long before Avatar.
By which I mean, Banksy has been hitting various billboards and street-corners in Los Angeles with culture-bending graffiti. As ever. I mean it’s a little weird that the anti-establishment dude has been promoting his Oscar nomination, but on the up-side, we get some pretty cool art out of it.
So back in December, Kim & Khloe Kardashian came to South Africa and local blog Cape Town Girl was thrilled to be invited to go and chat to the two entrepreneurs. By all accounts Kim & Khloe were great fun, as they chatted about everything from blogging and Birkin Bags to a certain hilarious Ninja-turtle-themed […]
Would you cut your own arm off to save your life? That’s what it all boils down to in 127 Hours, an adventure-thriller and spirited drama starring James Franco and directed by Slumdog Millionaire’s Danny Boyle. The film is an adaptation of Between a Rock and a Hard Place, a biographical account of now famous […]
If you think about it, music is simply data ordered in a specific way by a clever human and then executed by either man or machine. So why not take some existing data from a very clever machine and see if it makes music? Well that’s what the very very clever people at CERN have done.

The overwhelming flop that was Spider-Man 3 must have sparked serious hatred amongst die-hard fans of the comics. By all accounts it was one of the lamest movies ever produced, with as much caseoso as each of Christopher Reeves’ Superman films and 10 seasons of Smallville combined. That said, a reboot of Spider-Man is set for release next year and the title and promo-picture have been released.
If you’re anything like me you’ll have a penchant for gut busting drum solos from rake-thin dudes who live for that little round chair. We’ve been treated to some geniuses down the years, but Rolling Stone readers (who last I checked knew their music) have picked their top ten of all time.
Eminem and Rihanna’s song Love The Way You Lie was a big hit and we played it till our fingers bled on 2oceansvibe Radio. But then it got a little bit killed and we let it take a breather. We subsequently forgot about it and what a treat it was to see it performed live […]
That headline just about says it all. Justin Bieber’s 3D documentary, ‘Never Say Never’, took $30.3 million in its opening weekend at the US box office. Apparently 60% of its audience were women under the age of 18. Surprising, that.
Even for the insanity that is the Gaga fashion choice, arriving for the 2011 Grammy Awards in a giant shiny egg is still pretty weird. Lady Gaga was an hour early for her arrival on the red carpet, encased in a giant egg and was carried by four half-naked men.
What’s that in my pocket? Free music by Stepdog, Fulka and Fox Comet. This way please.
Since the 7th of February, when some random guy posted a comment on Dave Bing, the mayor of Detroit’s Twitter feed suggesting a statue of Robocop be erected in that city, the internet has been ablaze with ideas on how to achieve the feat.
You might want to sit down for this. What follows is some shocking evidence clearly proving that the actor currently known as Keanu Reeves, is in fact, immortal.
Hollywood A-lister and Man On Fire star, Denzel Washington, was spotted arriving at Sugarhut Club in Cape Town last night. The Oscar winning actor is in town to film a movie with Ryan Reynolds (Scarlett‘s ex). The movie is called Safe House, which is about a young CIA agent (Ryan) who must transport a dangerous criminal […]
You’ve seen crowd surfing, now check out crowd rolling. There isn’t much more to say about this picture. It was taken at a music festival and I personally think it symbolises the term “Rock ‘n Roll”.
The British royal family have had their fair share of embarrassments through the ages: Richard III’s bloody coronation, Queen Victoria’s “wicked uncles”, rumours that Prince Albert Victor was in fact Jack the Ripper, Prince Charles, his ears, Camilla Parker Bowles… the list continues. One such national embarrassment was The Duke of York, whose futile military […]
