To all of the social media managers out there, were sorry about this. We know your job is important and, without it, your companies “daily impressions to viral reach” ratio would be completely off. But you’ve got to be able to laugh at yourself sometimes, right? Please enjoy this hilarious picture of a new idea for a Halloween costume – it’s pretty scary.
We all like to cause a bit if chaos on Grand Theft Auto sometimes, you know, really push the boat out in the most anarchic way possible. Beat up pedestrians, murder some sex workers, steal some cars – the usual. Now, having an elderly person play GTA is a novelty enough in itself. But having an elderly person, a granny no less, go on a violent rampage that would put some of the most rebellious teenagers shame – now that’s a show.
Xolisile Guquza, a man accused of fraud, appeared in the Specialised Commercial Crime Court on last Wednesday. Xolisile donned a smart outfit for his big day, sporting a blue suit and a pink shirt. However, his sartorial elegance was somewhat overshadowed by what appeared to be a large Nandos paper bag that he put on his head.
In the minds of some, babies are just bundles of blubber and tissue with little wisps of hair – totally incapable of doing anything that makes much sense to adults. Those people need to turn around and have a look at this clip. We’re going so far as to say this is one of the best YouTube performances by anyone under the age of five that we’ve ever seen. Yes, that includes Charlie of ‘Charlie Bit My Finger’ fame.
A long, long time ago, in a film studio far, far away – a blooper reel was made. These bloopers never saw the light of day again, until now. This is what every Star Wars fan has been waiting for. After so many years of success, it was odd that Star Wars never released a blooper reel. The whole Star Wars setup was just begging for some bloopers. I mean, come one, men in Star Trooper suits with poor visibility, Chewbacca forgetting his lines, Luke’s spaceship revealed to be a cardboard box – things like this simply needed to be seen.
Ridiculous, in a good way. Here’s a little something to get you onto the workday hom stretch. What we have here is a short insert from the full length ski doccie, ‘Valhalla’. There doesn’t seem to be any rationale behind this, other than an expression of the joy of skiing. And being naked. And being naked and skiing.
It’s Friday, so here you go. Watch this whole thing. There are some great parts, and there are some very, very weird parts. Nevertheless, it is roundly wonderful, and features a half-jacuzzi.
One could spend hours scrolling through the listings of Gumtree. Logging in to one of South Africa’s most popular classifieds has become a little bit like window shopping, with a few key differences. For one, you don’t have to actually get up and go anywhere – so no need for pants.
Remember Triumph the insult comic dog? He’s that puppet that appeared in Eminem’s ‘Ass Like That’ video. Basically, he’s hilarious. In this clip, he visits one of those all-time favourite American things – a beer festival. He takes a few jabs at craft beer, alcoholics, and men with moustaches. It’s a classic.
A pleasant afternoon of provincial cricket in Australia was brought to life when one of the player’s girlfriends got involved in the action, so to speak. Not having much to talk about in terms of cricket, the commentators turned to one of the players ladyfriends, Yvonne. “Hey Yvonne give us a wave!” At this point, Yvonne made naughty hand gestures.
WARNING – Cringe alert. Look, we all know Business Insider is a reputable site full of really cool, useful, relevant information. But when it comes to doing a nifty travel article on South Africa, these guys really know how to apply egg to the face. Did you know, South Africans speak “Cosa”?
Just imagine a situation where he comes home to his stunning lady, drops his boots on the floor and says,”Honey, I want to make underwear for boys.” Really? Anyway, regardless of his motivations for starting the line, the real beauty here is the tweet he sent out last night about a competition for his new CR7 boys underwear.
For those who need reminding – Jenna Jameson is probably the world’s most famous porn star. Known as “The Queen of Porn”, Jameson shot to fame in the early 90′s, played a large part in making the Los Angeles porn scene as big as it is today, and was immortalised in wax in Madame Tussaud’s . Sadly, she hung up her… um… boots about 10 years ago, and has since then focused on becoming an entrepreneur and author. That’s right, author.
This is as skillful as it is hilarious. In a lip-syncing performance that will certainly beat the likes of Rihanna, this father is able to perfectly match his 6-year-old’s temper tantrum word-for-word.
On Wednesday we dropped the trailer of the new film Gravity, starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney as two lost astronauts who are stuck in space, forced to adventure into the void and find salvation. Well, during a recent press conference with director Alfonso Cuarón, a reporter asked a rather, well, silly question.
Anne Hirsch is back for a third season properly now – after kicking it off with a short trip to Rocking the Daisies. In this episode, Hirsch makes another trip to Darling, though this time it isn’t to poke fun at festival goers – but rather to probe the infamous Tannie Evita Bezuidenhout while sitting on her couch.
Talk about going beyond the call of duty. Corporal Josh Hargis was with his special operations unit in Panjwal, Afghanistan, when a woman detonated a suicide bomb vest nearby, triggering the explosion of 13 other bombs. Four of Hargis’ men were killed, and 12 other soldiers were badly wounded, including Hargis himself.
Last night Ricky Gervais took to the stage to perform songs as David Brent for the first time. Sipping a can of beer in between songs, Brent performed the 40-minute set to a rapturous crowd of over 500 people. Tickets to the gig sold out in 60 seconds, and included celebrities like Professor Green. Here’s [...]
In yet another magnificent example of art immitating life, what we have here is Australian cricketer, Brad Haddin copping a finger to the eye following a poorly-executed high five by a team mate. The scenario is a direct play-acting of a scene from cult classic radio comedy programme, The 12th Man, which was written and performed by comedian Billy Birmingham.
Local YouTube phemon, Anne Hirsch has been causing quite a stink (a nice stink) lately, and her success has begged the question: Is the future of South African comedy online? Watch the clip, and find out. Catch Tech Report every Thursday evening at 21h30 on eNCA Africa DSTV channel 403. Check out their YouTube channel, here. Follow [...]
To kick start Hashtag Season 3 of The Anne Hirsch Show, Anne and her crew embarked on a roadtrip to Darling for the annual Rocking the Daisies festival. Says Anne, “We made so many new #besties and basically had THE BEST TIME IN THE WORLD EVER and we didn’t even have to twerk.” Our favourite parts were the Norwegian speaking “Xhosa”, and Anne brushing her teeth with someone else’s tooth brush.
Earlier this month we featured Tyson, an English Bulldog from Johannesburg who was kicking significant portions of ass on the internet via his Bulldogs Be Fancy Tumblog. Tyson’s star has continued its rise, with the costume-keen hound appearing in an ever-burgeoning raft of local ads. Here’s his latest appearance, for an Mnet campaign.
Welcome to our new favourite YouTube channel: Hard Eddy’s Gaad To Laaf (guide to life). Subscribe to my Gaad to Laaf and your laaf will be much less kak. Schweet, boytjies and binnets. One taam.”
“I wasn’t going to write this letter, but today i’ve been dodging phone calls from various industry blogs who wished me to remark upon your having said your career was designed to be similar to mine … So this is what I need to say … And it is said in the spirit of fatherliness and with love.”
This was roped to the traffic light on the corner of Strand and Adderley in Cape Town this morning. There you go. Just enjoy that. I’d love to know what the story behind that one is. Anyone care to have a go at guessing the scenario behind that headline in the comments section?
The latest episode of Zach Galifianakis’ web series, ‘Between Two Ferns’ features one Justin Bieber, esq. The insert is comprised of the usual layering of offensive and awkward questions followed by pregnant silences – so far, so good. And then Zach stands up, belllows “You’re too young to be smoking pot and pee-peeing in buckets and driving up and down the highway fast! I don’t think your mom would really mind if a stranger beat her son.”, and beats Bieber with his belt.
Meet Tyson. He’s an English bulldog, and he lives in Johannesburg. His owner has a minor obsession with dressing Tyson up, which has led to the foundation of the Bulldogs Be Fancy tumblog. Coincidentally, your work day just got shot to pieces. Here’s a small selection of our favourites: CLICK HERE to see them all. [...]
Remember how bad the acting was in the last Samsung ad? College Humor has taken the liberty of summing up all the reasons why every tech ad you’ve ever seen is the same. There are a lot of bright lights, like a lot, and repetition, did we mention the bright lights? And check out all of these young people, they have really interesting and creative jobs.
Watch this Tetris Sprinter, who goes by the name Keroco, own this game like a boss! Here’s a break down. Tetris sprinters try to clear 40 lines in as little time as possible. Keroco clears 40 lines in a mind boggling, 19.68 seconds. According to Mental Floss this is the first time someone has broken the 2o second barrier. Check it.
This runaway-train-on-fire is reaching such exquisite levels of ineptitude that we are now wholly convinced that the entire enterprise is a subversive satirical comedy channel to rival the best in the world. Take this ANN7 job ad, for example.
