Man Claims He Was Downloading Child Pornography In Order To Protect Children

I think this might be the best excuse ever. No, really. A Canadian man claims that he only visited child porn websites in order to gather information to send to the authorities. He also downloaded 4 400 images in an attempt to prevent others from doing so - because, you know, once you download something from the internet no one else can.

Fred Skelton is a dirty, dirty old man, and a Canadian judge just ruled that he should serve up to a year in prison. Skelton was arrested in December 2006 after he took his computer to to a repair shop at which point shop staff found child pornography on the hard drive. Police uncovered 4400 illegal images, “including depictions of bondage, torture and group sex.” He claimed, however, that he was simply bookmarking illegal sites to send to the authorities.

The site he said he was collecting the information for is Cybertip, a national tip line for online exploitation of children in Canada.

Are you ready for the kicker?

He started doing his research FOUR YEARS before the site even existed.

I guess you don’t need to be a member of Mensa to also become a pedophile.
