“Man’s best friend” takes on a whole new meaning after you read this amazing story. If you thought your dog was loyal, you’ve got nothing on this canine, who saved his owner’s life – even though it would mean that he’d have to sacrifice his own.
A 48-year-old Kazakh man attempted suicide last week, after consuming a bottle of vodka and passing out on local train tracks. I would have thought that just the vodka would have been enough to do it, but apparently they’re built a little differently up there.
Amazingly, the man’s dog managed to follow him to what he believed would be his final resting place. Unaware of the man’s dark thoughts of ending it all, the dog managed to pull his owner off the tracks, saving his life. Tragically, the dog was struck by the oncoming train, and died instantly.
The train conductor applied the train’s emergency brake as soon as he saw the animal, but was unable to stop in time. The man escaped with only a few minor broken bones, but has lost what may well have been his true best friend.
