The Pistorius trial, is being renewed for a second season, but one of its leading stars is not enjoying all the limelight the televised court case has brought. Barry Roux can now be considered a fully-fledged celebrity by having his very own stalker as well as his own snappy catch line, “I put it to you.”
Roux has been ingrained in South African pop-culture, whether he likes it or not. For example, Roux might not know how to access Twitter but there is a parody account of Roux setup with more than 15 000 followers already, providing gems like the following:
No glove? No courtroom love. #OscarPistorius

Last week his celebrity status was confirmed when he was stalked by a woman, begging for his autograph. Ignoring her didn’t help. Roux reluctantly obliged after the woman told Roux she took a day off work to come and see him – creepy.
