The Westboro Baptist Church just love trolling – but it’s a pity their protest signs and ideas that lead them there are so lacking in consideration. They have become infamous for voicing their opinions, negating gay rights and the rights of people of colour in the land of dreams.
Not to worry, we have the Foo Fighters – who would only put a little bit of innocence and fun into taking the time to give the picketers a taste of their own medicine.
You see, it all started in 2011 when the Foo Fighters dressed in hoedown country gear and sung a country-inspired song called ‘Keep It Clean’ in front of a poorly attended Westboro picketing team.
When Friday came around, the band once again gave the Westboro peeps attention, but this time with a beautiful internet meme twist: Rickrolling.
You see, Rickrolling started in 2007 when people would provide links along with a headline – the early days of click baiting. This link would then lead to Rick Astley’s 1987 single ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’ instead of what the headline seemed to intend.
This time, the Foo Fighters drove past the small team of picketers that were situated in the same place as in 2011 and held up signs ‘You Got Rick Roll’d Again’ and ‘Keep It Clean’ all the while blasting Astley’s single.
It’s a pity you can’t really see the picketing peeps reactions – the wave of fans and their camera phones just takes over – but I’m sure they weren’t too impressed. Or maybe they were trolling so hard they are in fact fans and this is their way of seeing the Foo Fighters in action.
