Trevor Noah Cancels Controversial Interview

Although Trevor Noah had plans to use the opportunity to talk about real issues, the rest of The Daily Show team didn't quite agree with it.

Trevor Noah, a 31-year-old comedian from South Africa who has contributed to "The Daily Show" a handful of times during the past year, will become Jon Stewart's replacement as host, Comedy Central announced Monday March 30, 2015. Noah was chosen a little more than a month after Stewart unexpectedly announced he was leaving "The Daily Show" following 16 years as the show's principal voice. On Tuesday night, fans of the controversial Chris Brown were probably stoked to see him appear on The Daily Show. Yet, when they tuned in, they instead witnessed an interview between host Trevor Noah and, well, Nick Cannon.

Perhaps a case of mistaken identity? Nah, just kidding.

It was actually because a few of The Daily Show staffers reportedly disapproved of having Chris Brown on the show because of his violent history. But Trevor was actually planning to use Brown’s interview as a platform to discuss the singer’s history of violence as Trevor’s own mother was a victim of domestic abuse from his father.

But that wasn’t the worst of it – New Zealand and Australia both denied Chris Brown visas back in September to tour the countries based on his violent past.
