As IOL amps up #TheDignityProject, a homeless man called Danny penning a column for them now, a video has emerged from outside the Cape Town railway station that shows security guards becoming very physical with a homeless man.
Those on the scene say that the drama began when the man refused to move from the area in which he was sleeping. Below from News24:
News24’s Aljoscha Kohlstock witnessed the event; he said the man told security to leave him alone.
According to Kohlstock, the guards used their batons on the man.
Speaking to News24, Metrorail’s Riana Scott said, “[Security guards] indicated that the man became aggressive and abusive when asked to leave and appropriate force was used to remove him from the premises.”
Guess that depends on your definition of ‘appropriate force’.
