Built in 1987, the Riviera was made famous by its mob connections and headliner acts, such as Barbra Streisand, Frank Sinatra, and its owner Liberace.
Yesterday the hotel’s Monaco Tower, constructed in 1987, was imploded. The rest of the building is now owned by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, who plan to eventually use the fully demolished site to expand the city’s convention centre.
