  • Elon Musk Probably Shouldn’t Be Tweeting Out Hitler Memes Right Now [Video]

If you were in the middle of a media storm, you’d probably lay low for a while. You’d definitely avoid publicly sharing anything to do with Hitler, right?

Elon Musk clearly didn’t get the memo.

He’s been in the news a lot lately, usually for being an asshat. A few weeks ago he called a British diver, who helped to rescue 13 people trapped in a cave in Thailand, a ‘pedo’.

He’s also been attacking the media, and anyone who doesn’t like Tesla.

Now he’s under fire again. After promising to lay off Twitter for a while for the sake of Tesla stocks, Elon tweeted a Hitler meme:

Dang, turns out even Hitler was shorting Tesla stock … https://t.co/RLM1VQ5O3K

    — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) August 5, 2018

The meme draws on a famous scene from the movie Downfall that chronicles Hitler’s final days before the end of World War II. Here’s the Star Phoenix with Elon’s version:

In Musk’s most recent post that’s attracted wider attention, Hitler learns that Model 3 production has increased and Tesla shares are gaining. He orders “Chanos, Einhorn, Spiegel” to stay and everybody else to leave the room, referring to vocal Tesla short-seller fund managers Jim Chanos and David Einhorn. He then rants about the money he’s losing on his Tesla short position.

His aides break the news to him that, contrary to short sellers’ assertions, Tesla’s cars aren’t fire prone, and Hitler laments that so-called Tesla fighters — new models from the likes of Porsche and BMW AG — “keep getting delayed.”

The clip, which shows Hitler screaming in his bunker after discussing war strategy, has become a popular meme.

Tesla has enjoyed a few weeks of stock hikes, due in large part to Elon’s promise that he would be a good boy, stay away from Twitter, and think about what he’s done.

    Clearly shortlived.
