It’s starting – the Christmas decorations and Michael Buble Christmas albums have invaded malls and living rooms everywhere.

This time of year is geared towards the Christian holiday, but that isn’t the only celebration that happens over the end-of-year holiday season.

Hanukkah starts this year on December 2, and ends December 10, and is the Jewish Festival of Lights which remembers the rededication of the second Jewish Temple in Jerusalem, Israel.

    Which brings us to Chrismukkah.

Chrismukkah is a pop-culture portmanteau neologism referring to the merging of the holidays of Christianity’s Christmas and Judaism’s Hanukkah.

That sounded very formal – let’s try again. It’s a cool way to merge two celebrations and traditions, hang out with friends, and have a good time, and it was made popular by that old teen TV show, The O.C.

    You remember the one?

Anyway, Café Caprice is hosting their annual Chrismukkah party on December 25 this year, and like a menorah, it’s going to be lit.

Celebrate the super-holiday of the century in style with all your favourite people at Café Caprice.

Chrismukkah is hands down the most festive night of the year, so come ready to have a good time. Plus, if you’re feeling the family-burnout after Christmas lunch, this is the best way to chill out.

    Here are the deets:

    • Tuesday, December 25, 2018, at 6PM
    • Cafe Caprice, 37 Victoria Road

This event fills up pretty quickly, so book your table now so that you aren’t disappointed.

Check out the Chrismukkah Facebook page for more details.

Oh, while we have your attention, we should tell you about the Sea Sun Yoga events running every Wednesday on Camps Bay Beach, although today has been postponed due to the weather.

That’s OK, because it gives you more time to plan for next week. Here’s what they entail:

Get over your weekly hump with YogaLife, Cafe Caprice, and Havaianas.

Wind down the day with a free sunset yoga class led by The YogaLife on Camps Bay Beach. After your bodies and minds have been stretched, float over to Cafe Caprice for a healthy meal and complimentary drink.

All levels are welcome, and there are weekly spot prizes to be won. For more info, check out the event’s page.

Happy yoga Wednesdays and Merry Chrismukkah!
